Book Review : Bone China by Laura Purcell
Title : Bone China
Author : Laura Purcell
Genre : Horror
I came across Laura Purcell when she had launched her first book 'The Silent Companions' which was quite spooky for me. Her book gave me chills that many horror movies failed to do so and I couldn't stop myself when her third book 'Bone China' (I'm yet to read her second outing 'The Corset') was announced and I got my hands on it as soon as possible. This was my read for the Halloween month and here is my take on it.
The story revolves around two main characters Hester Why who had arrived at Moroven House to take care of Miss Pinecroft. As the story moves ahead, we see Hester experiencing a certain spook around the house and she also tries to deal with her past before she arrived here. On the other hand, we also get to know about Louise Pinecroft and her father's experiment on five prisoners who were suffering from a terminal disease.
In my opinion, though the book is pretty good when it brings to spooks and twists, it wasn't as good as The Silent Companions which blew my mind away at the end. The characters are well etched (especially the central ones) and we get a deep insight on how each character has been moulded in such a way. The writing is pretty crisp and the introductions to many concepts are easy to grasp making the book a pretty interesting read.
So, would I recommend this book. Ofcourse I would because it's Laura Purcell. Though the end did disappoint me a bit, the book was a pretty fascinating journey and should not be missed.
My Ratings - 🌟🌟🌟🌟 out of 5
Book in Few Words - Intriguing with a brand new concept
