Book Review : Love of my Life by Rohit Sharma

Another day, another book review. As they say, never judge a book by its cover but when the cover turns out to be so cliched, one cannot help but judge the book. I was however promised a story that is different from the novels that are being churned out these days and I decided to take my risk on the same. Read further onto find out how the book fares.

Blurb (From Amazon):

Major Virat Singh Rajput was once a fearless Black Cat commando who had saved Mumbai from its venomous perpetrators. His life took a beautiful turn when he got engaged to Pratishtha Sachdev, the girl he had selflessly loved for the last fourteen years.

Everything was blissful, until one day Pratishtha mysteriously went missing. Virat, who was hailed as India’s hero, has now become a villain and is facing a certain death penalty.
Only one woman can save him.
Criminal Defence Lawyer Vaishnavi Pandit has not won her first six cases. She is adamant to win her seventh.
But, still, no one knows where Pratishtha is. No one still knows what the motive behind Virat’s crime was.
The odds are heavily against Vaishnavi.
Let’s unfold together a deeply romantic and nail-biting story about true love, excruciating pain and lurid vengeance – a thrilling story about love and honesty, hatred and deceit, friendship and animosity, dark truths and hidden motives.

What's Good with the Book:

1. As promised, the book was a wee bit different from the regular churn off the mill love stories that we read these days. Though romance formed the major part of the novel, it did have its own moments that made it above average.

2. The plot was pretty tight and hence the flaws weren't as redundant. Also, the language of the book was quite easy to grasp and it took me just a short flight to complete the book and to be honest, it wasn't boring.

What's Wrong with the Book:

1. Another novel that suffers from bad proof reading. Though the book tried pretty hard to lessen the mistakes, it did have certain glaring mistakes which could not be ignored.

2. The plot took in elements from reality as well as certain Bollywood movie (which I won't name here) which made it quite repetitive rather than unique.

My Take on the book:

Eventhough the plot is majorly inspired from one of the bollywood movies (to such extent that they had even mentioned the song of the movie), the book is pretty enjoyable. One can easily pick up the book, finish it in an hour or two and pass it on as it makes up for quite a nice read. Though, I did cringe a bit when the story reached its climax, it was predictable at times and could have been made better.

Ratings : 🌟🌟🌟1/2 out of 5

Book in Three Words : Quick. Light. Enjoyable.
